Norse Clansman - Character Pipeline

This project was my first experience with the character pipeline. In 8 weeks I designed, modelled and textured a game ready character.

Initial Design

Thumbnails and Final photo-bashed design. At this stage I considered where my character is from, what his role is, the environment he lives in and to reflect these elements in his clothing, body type and accessories.

Blockout Sculpt - Zbrush

When concepting I moved between 2D and 3D, this helped me see angles I hadn't considered and get a better overall impression of the character's proportions.

anatomy and marvelous designer clothing

I sculpted the anatomy of the character whilst referencing the initial blockout. This was my first comprehensive 3D anatomy study. All clothing was made using Marvelous Designer. 

Texturing

Textures were made using Substance Painter. I textured the face using Mudbox to project my own face onto the head mesh. The textures reflect the background of the character. Leather is skillfully crafted and oiled whilst metals are salvaged and poorly maintained by this woodland clan.
